How is traditional coconut oil made?

From palm to jar: the process that has survived generations.

In Coronie it's still done the old way. Ripe coconuts are harvested, the white flesh is grated and dried in the sun. Then the dried coconut is pressed — cold or with minimal heat — so the oil is released.

No chemicals, no refining. Just time, sun and craftsmanship. The result is oil that smells and tastes of the place it comes from: the coast of Coronie.
